Office and Office Hours for the Catholic Committee on Scouitng

For those who come to the office to purchase books, medals, patches, etc. there is a new procedure for visiting the CCOS office. Because Pat Waskowiak will no long be in the office after June 1st - all orders must be done be mail.  Please plan ahead!  There will be no pick-up at the CCOS until someone has filled the position for the CCOS within the Secretariat of Leadership Development and Evanglization.

The Catholic Committee on Scouting, which has existed for over 62 years, works with the Scouting Program through the Department for Family, Youth, and Cathlc School Ministires.  They are a volunteer group of Catholic leaders from Boy Scouts, Camp Fire USA, and Girl Scouts.  These men, women and the Diocesan Youth Council (DYC) representatives encourage youth in religious training and values, promote principles of Scouting, and instruct youth to strive for Catholic religious awards and emblems.

St. Paul Cathedral

This spring event is an annual Mass celebrated with a bishop and other clergy at St. Paul Cathedral, during which the religious awards/emblems that were earned by Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Capm Fire members are blessed and distributed:  Ad Altare Dei; Pope Pius XII; Kateri Tekakwitha; Marian; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton; or The Spirit Alive Awards.  Adult Religious Awards are also presented at this Convocation for the St. Anne, St. George, The Bishop Leonard and Pope Paul VI Unit Awards.

Catholic Scout Retreat

St. Paul Seminary

This one day retreat is designed for the Scouts working on the Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, Kateri Tekakwitha, Marian, St. Elizabeth Anne Seton or The Spirit Alive Emblems.  Leaders and religious counselors who are working with the youth in preparation for these emblems are also invited to attend this special day.  It is built around a theme that is carried out throughout the retreat.  The highlights of the retreat are the Mass and the projects that are worked on in small groups.  There is a fee for the retreat that includes, food, activities, supplies, and a patch.

Catholic Religious Awards Training

Boy Scout / Girl Scout / Campfire Religious Awards Training

St. Paul Seminary, O'Connor Hall,  7:00 PM - 9:00

Training for counselors is typically offered in the Fall, and in the Spring if there is sufficient demand. If you or someone you know is interested in working with Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts in obtaining their Catholic Religious Award, this training is for you!  Training is a must if working on the following emblems:  Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII for Boy Scouts.  Kateri, Mary, the First Diciple, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and The Spirit Alive emblems for girls in scouting programs.

Registration  start at 6:45 PM and end at 9:00 PM with a Q&A after. Please call the office to confirm your place, or inquire on prospective schedules (Pat Waskowiak: 412-456-3140. There is no cost of the training.
